1. “Quietly Powerful”

Forces of nature, always in motion

    Often unnoticed, seemingly silent

    Occasionally witnessed by the keenest

Eyes, a shifting and shaping caused

    By constant pressure, the way

Heat radiates from the sun, slowly

    Quietly and continuously, melting

Blankets of ice into rivers, that rush

Full of water, wildly, eroding the rocks

And earth, on an expedition to the sea

So too, are the deeds of the mightiest

Of people, the quietly powerful, the ones

Who act in silence, being the wind that

Carves the stone, lifting the lives of

Others, upon their backs,  the teachers

    The caregivers, the anonymous, who

    seeking neither praise nor recognition,

Are the spine of humanity, spirits on

Their greatest mission, who touch us

Creating the changes, we often overlook

  2. “I Can”

    Because I can, I will

    Armed with ambition, I proceed

    Obstacles appear as hurdles

I fly over them, spirit taking flight

At the most difficult of times

    I get by, encouraged

    Once again, another try

When it does not yet exist

    I find the way, exploring

    Building bridges, I cross over

    To discover, that experience

    The best teacher, leads me

As I aspire to greater knowledge

To be all that I am meant to be

    Fulfilling my potential

    Because, I can

  3. “The Spirit Of Bravery”

My spirits still rise, though I may fall

Pointed with intent, I will stand tall

I lean purposefully forward into my life

Fighting a world that cuts like a knife

Like the pioneers before me, I blaze trails

Armed like a warrior, my spirit never fails

Free from the prisons of emotional slavery

I choose courage and the spirit of bravery

  4. “I”

    I

    Live for my dreams

Watching their mystery unfold is even greater than it seems

    I

    Long to explore

Knowing there are always new worlds behind every unopened door

    I

    Love with all my heart

Seeing the beauty of every living person, paint the world with their art

    I

    Like possibility

Finding joy in each new day of living and hoping for what may still be

    I

    Learn how to fly

Falling never scares me, so there really is no reason for me not to try

    I

    Let my tears fall

Understanding life brings both pain and beauty, if we are to have it all

    I

    Look all around

Discovering that after all the years and tears and laughter, it is me, I’ve found

  5. “What Do I See(Staring Back At Me)”

    I look into a fountain

    What do I see

    The reflection of a mountain

    Staring back at me

    I gaze into the mirror

    What do I see

    The image is getting clearer

    Staring back at me

    I look out the window

    What do I see

    The colors of a  rainbow

    Staring back at me

I gaze up at the moon

    What do I see

    A beaming yellow balloon

    Staring back at me

    I look at myself

    What do I see

    A book upon the shelf

    Staring back at me

I gaze up at the sun

    What do I see

    My one, my only one

    Staring back at me

  6. “Rise”

For far too long, I stood still

Always had the heart, but somehow I lost the will

What are we to do, when we lose our way?

How do we begin to change our lives and make a difference in our day?

There comes a time, for us to change the recipe

Because spinning our wheels, is what challenges you and me

    <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>

    Now I realize

Its not the living of each day that makes us wise

And if it takes a thousand tries

I am going to climb this mountain, for on the ascent my spirits sure to rise

    <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>

Too many times, we forget to live

With all the passion in our hearts, we have so much to give

Where do we turn, when it seems that we are lost?

When will we learn that the price is far different than the cost?

There comes a time, for us to tap into our power

For the living is in the moments and the minutes of every hour

    <> <> <> <> <> <> <> <>

    I look into the skies

I know that a bird has to spread its wings before it flies

And if I fall a thousand times

I am going to learn how to elevate above the horizon, and like a Phoenix I will rise

  7. “Something So Simple”

(Let’s hear it for the simple life)

    Something so simple…

    …can touch my day.

    Something so simple…

    …helps me find my way.

    Something so simple…

    …brings me so much joy.

    Something so simple…

    …just a moment to enjoy.

    Something so simple…

    …moves my loving heart.

    Something so simple…

    …like a work of art.

    Something so simple…

    …fills up my wings.

    Something so simple…

    …like the little things.

    Something so simple…

    …is what I live for.

    Something so simple…

    …that’s all, nothing more.

  8. “Coming Up For Air”

I am breaking through the surface

    Driven solely by purpose

I am soaring to brave new heights

Feel like it is written in the stars

I can feel myself on fire

    The heat is intensifying

    I am only looking upward

    Swimming up from down below

I am lifted by my calling

    Without any fear of falling

I have saved myself from drowning

    By following my heart

    I am building up momentum

    My pulse is quickening

I have learned how to let go

    No longer feeling breathless

I am coming up for air

  9. “People First”

People First (inspired by the people of the world)

On the road of life, nothing touches our lives more than people.  Not money, fortune nor fame.  We are a family, like a giant tree.  We are born into a given family yet find our chosen family along our journey of life.  Some of our most beloved and precious relationships will fall into both of our families.

People will touch our lives in  ways we have never expected, sharing both the beauty of their wonderment and the depths of their darkest hours.  The smallest of exchanges can lead to a life time of memories.  The kindest deed can alter the course of our path.  The tiniest act can leave an amazing affect.  For we may all want different things, but our basic needs, as humans, are so very similar.  To be loved.  To be touched in special ways.  To be recognized.  To belong.   To make a difference.  To share moments.

Our paths will be colored by the many many characters and players who come in and out of our lives.  Some people will be there from the very start.  Others will occupy nothing more than a brief stay.  Some will leave far too soon.  Our philosophies, ideas, beliefs, desires, fears, and dreams will be built around the fortress of this collection of relationships.  The people who impact us the most will remain in our collective consciousness.  Although we will forget about many people, we may continue to carry a piece of them forward throughout our journey.

No life experience will touch us more than people.  Not any place or thing can begin to rival the influence people have on us.  The specialness each person offers can never be duplicated.  We are each our own unique symphony, playing our own song.

We are all the sum of our life’s experiences.  A giant patchwork quilt made up of all the people who have touched us in a multitude of ways.  I call it the inspiration quilt.  It is the fabric our our lives!

My life has called me to honor people, working on their behalf.

    Sharing peoples stories…telling their tales.

Above all things I…..in all my work…

I choose to recognize people first!

  10. “The Bridge of Hands (Reaching Out)”

Reaching out, we must extend a hand; to strangers, to neighbors, to anyone in need, and to all we can.  Time to let go of dwelling in ego.  Time to set aside our swelling pride.  People are hurting.  Our communities are in pain.  I say help.  Help one another, by reaching out across the divide to bridge the gap.  The gap that leaves us on too many different sides.

It begins with you and I.  One by one, we must build back our communities by embracing the strangers who may need our help.  Helping them, only helps all of us. Assist your neighbors when they are down and out, or in need.  Show them the compassion of your helping hands.

Together, we are stronger.  Side by side, building bridges across the divide.  Hand in hand, with strength in numbers, we shall extend.  As people help people, we return the unity to each and every community.

Take the hand of your fellow man.  We all must band, reaching out for change.  Reaching out as far as possible to create a bridge.  A bridge strong enough to carry us over the very troubled waters below.  Remember, love is love, in any language.  And actions speak louder than words.

The greatness of the human spirit, coupled with the compassion in our hearts, can move mountains.  It can heal the world.  Come together to make it happen.  Hand upon hand upon hand, taking hold in an unending chain of interlocking human force.  An emerging force, reaching out, to build the bridge of hands.
