1. “I Want To Lift You Up”

    When you are down

And you cannot seem to pick yourself up to higher ground

I want to lift you up

I want to be the one to fill your empty cup

    When you are lost

And all your dreams have been hopelessly tossed

I want to lift you up

Let me be the one to show you that you are enough

    When you are afraid

And you feel like fear has taken over all the plans you’ve made

I want to lift you up

I will take you sailing away from days that have been so rough

    When you are feeling low

And you cannot see the light of day to know which way to go

I want to lift you up

Let me fill your weary spirit and show you what your made of

  2. “There Are Times”

There are times when we’re awakened by a sudden call

There are times when we need to stand up tall

There are times when we know that it’s time to give

There are times when, what we do, helps others live

There are times when things go wildly wrong

There are times when we must learn to be strong

There are times when we all need to come together

There are times when we suffer through brutal weather

There are times when we walk our separate ways

There are times when we can brighten stormy days

There are times when we must just stand by

There are times when tragedy will make us cry

There are times when there is nothing we can do

There are times when we can lend a hand or two

There are times when we should help our fellow brother

There are times when we bridge the gap between one another

There are times when must unite and act as one

There are times when we look back at a job well done

  3. “The Bridge of Hands (Reaching Out)”

Reaching out, we must extend a hand; to strangers, to neighbors, to anyone in need, and to all we can.  Time to let go of dwelling in ego.  Time to set aside our swelling pride.  People are hurting.  Our communities are in pain.  I say help.  Help one another, by reaching out across the divide to bridge the gap.  The gap that leaves us on too many different sides.

It begins with you and I.  One by one, we must build back our communities by embracing the strangers who may need our help.  Helping them, only helps all of us. Assist your neighbors when they are down and out, or in need.  Show them the compassion of your helping hands.

Together, we are stronger.  Side by side, building bridges across the divide.  Hand in hand, with strength in numbers, we shall extend.  As people help people, we return the unity to each and every community.

Take the hand of your fellow man.  We all must band, reaching out for change.  Reaching out as far as possible to create a bridge.  A bridge strong enough to carry us over the very troubled waters below.  Remember, love is love, in any language.  And actions speak louder than words.

The greatness of the human spirit, coupled with the compassion in our hearts, can move mountains.  It can heal the world.  Come together to make it happen.  Hand upon hand upon hand, taking hold in an unending chain of interlocking human force.  An emerging force, reaching out, to build the bridge of hands.

  4. Alphabet Soup: H is for Help!

At Skaters Landing we answer the phone; “Skaters Landing, this is Chris(insert any name), How may I help you?”  By help we mean; be of any service.  Answer a question?  Schedule an appointment.  Direct you to the correct person.  Provide further information on a product or service.  Or just share some information about ice skating in any way!

Execution of spectacular service should be at the heart of any business!  The products are the products.  They all have pros and all have cons.  The way a business takes the customer by the hand will determine the potential for any  long term relationship with that person.   Companies say they cannot afford to offer good service.  It seems to me that  great service is really nothing more than great relationships.

As a business owner, I will NOT implement or create any policies, strategies, or programs that would be unacceptable to me.  It is that simple!  Help people in the manner you expect to be treated.

Businesses are not about policies or the company.  Businesses are owned and  operated by people.  The employees.  The entire business from its inception through its growth and maturity is about people. The customers.

I recently helped a potential customer purchase a product from one of our vendors directly, as we did not have the product in stock.  I called the vendor.  I booked the appointment for them, giving them the phone number, address, and contact person for their appointment.   I lost the sale to my supplier, but gained not only a new customer for life, but a loyal fan.  They ended up spending more money on our other offerings while I busily helped them make a purchase elsewhere.  They brag about their experience to everyone they can.

It has left me wondering; who really helped who here?
