: Alphabet Soup: N is for Network
  1. Alphabet Soup: N is for Network

We are  born into  connections.  Usually it is our parents, and their love, nurturing and care that we remember as our first connection in life.  Our families teach us and show us the many things we need to know about life.  We learn from them. We observe their differences.  We see their strengths and experience their weaknesses.

Growing up, we begin to explore the world for ourselves.  We make friends at school.  We meet other people through sports, clubs, activities, and family members.  Very quickly we learn  the difference between the people we want to play with and the ones we don’t.  Over the years we build our personal network of friends and acquaintances.

Each one of us are unique and special.  Connecting with people, who not only  share my visions but want to play with me as well, is why I am in business.  It is the network of talented people, each bringing their skills openly to the playing field, that makes me come to life.  The privilege to work together towards common goals.  The ability to serve customers well because your network of partners, colleagues, and employees make  great playmates. That rocks my world with excitement!

Human interaction should never be underestimated.  Attend every event you can.  Learn about the presenters.  Be present for the keynote speakers.  Research the attendees online before the conference or trade show. Meet with people over a coffee, for lunch, or drinks at night.  I get social with people every opportunity I can.   Interact with them on social networks whenever possible.  Read the blogs of people who inspire you. Comment on them.   Find out the interests of people with whom you want to network.

    Observe. Connect. Share. Listen.

Listening is the key to great networking!

Play well with others!!  And build the greatest network while you are at it!!!
